NATCON UPDATE....

Many things are happening here at NATCON 2012! Here is an updated list of what has happened at NATCON so far:

JNP- The JNP for the 2012-2013 year is going to be STEM. Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics is the focus for this joint project. Be thinking and working with your Arnold Air Society to determine what JNP event you would like to complete for next year!

SNP- The SNP for the 2012-2013 year is going to be Promotion of National Defense, which means you will be educating people about the military. You could use 5k runs, flyers, etc.

Resolution #J4- A resolution has been passed making it now MANDATORY for Silver Wings to educate their new members about AAS, and the other way around. Powerpoint presentations will be passed to chapter levels and would be a great way to present the information to each group. During SW associate member process, it is recommended that a cadet or group of cadets from AAS come and help present the information, as well as recommended that SW do the same, when presenting information to AAS.

Resolution #S3- A dress code resolution was passed saying that during NATCON...ALL CADETS who are Silver Wings members should be in CIVILIAN BUSINESS ATTIRE. This means that during all business sessions at NATCON, NO UNIFORMS should be worn by cadets. There is however a choice during the military banquet on the last evening of NATCON where cadets can wear either their uniform or civilian formal attire.

*AWARDS:
1. The scrapbook award went to Clemson. Next year, be working on a scrapbook of events your chapter does so that you can present it at NATCON and possibly win!
2. Joint Relations award went to Auburn University for having the best National Joint Relations between Arnold Air Society and Silver Wings.
3. Honorary SW National President- Mrs. Judy Bundy

**Note for next year- Please apply for each and every award that is fitting for your chapter as well as members in your chapter. I would love to see Region Five bring home more awards next year, as this year we only brought home one. I know there are some GREAT chapters/members in our chapters in this region so lets show off to the Nation!

National Archives- This is where all old Silver Wings/Arnold Air Society forms, memorabilia, etc. is stored. This was originally moved to different places each year, but a resolution at NATCON was passed to hold these archives in Atlanta permanently and to work towards making all archives electronic so that any SW/AAS member can access these via the website.

We can't wait to send out more information on EVERYTHING that happened at NATCON when we are back home, as well as post pictures!

Kelsey Hendrix
Region V President
(New National Vice President)
